Hotfix ID Discovery via Agent-Based Scan
Windows Hotfix / KB patch data was previously missing from agent-based scans because the QFE parser created a new record for every line of output instead of one per hotfix entry, and date-parsing failures aborted the entire collection. The parser now creates one record per hotfix and handles date errors gracefully, ensuring that Hotfix ID, installation date, URL, type, and installer are all captured correctly.
Where the fix appears
The corrected hotfix data is visible in the following locations:
| Location | What changed |
|---|---|
| CMDB > Windows Host CI > MS Patches / Windows Updates tab | Hotfix IDs appear correctly with full metadata. |
| Discovered Items > Windows Host | Windows update and hotfix data is fully populated after agent-based scans. |
Procedure
Complete the following steps to apply the corrected parser to existing Windows hosts.
-
Update the Discovery Agent.
Deploy the updated agent to Windows hosts so they use the corrected QFE parser.
-
Re-run the agent scan.
Trigger a new scan after the agent update to collect corrected hotfix data.
