Cisco Switch Stack Hostname Parsing Fix

During discovery scans against Cisco IOS XE switch stacks, the hostname parser was incorrectly capturing the VTY paging prompt character (!) instead of the actual device hostname. This caused the Host Name field to be set to ! and the Asset Name to be generated as !@<IP> in the CMDB. The hostname extraction logic now strips VTY paging artifacts before reading the hostname, so switch stack CIs are identified accurately.

Where the fix appears

The corrected hostnames are visible in the following locations:

Location What changed
CMDB > Switch CI > Detail page Host Name and Asset Name fields now display the correct device hostname.
Discovered Items > Switch / Network Device Cisco IOS XE switch stack discovery results show accurate hostnames after scanning.
Network topology and dependency maps Switch stack CIs are correctly identified.

Procedure

Complete the following steps after upgrading to v6.1.2 to refresh affected switch stack CIs.

  1. Re-scan Cisco IOS XE switch stacks.

Trigger a new discovery scan against Cisco IOS XE switch stacks, or wait for the next scheduled scan to run. The fix takes effect automatically.

  2. Review the Host Name and Asset Name fields.

Open the affected Switch CI in the CMDB and confirm that Host Name and Asset Name now show the correct device identifier.
