Application Updates
The Virima Discovery Application is a Windows service that scans your network for IT assets and sends data to the Virima CMDB. After each product release, you may need to update the Discovery Application to maintain compatibility and receive new features, enhancements, security updates, and fixes.
Though this is not a mandatory update for v6.1.1, we recommend you update the application as it may contain performance related fixes.
How updates are delivered
Updates are delivered in one of the following ways:

Automatic update: If auto-update is enabled in the discovery application, the application downloads and installs updates without manual action.

Admin Portal: If auto-update is disabled in the discovery application, sign in to the Virima web application, go to Admin Portal > Client (Discovery), and click the Update action to start the update process.
When manual action is required
Your firewall or network restrictions might block the Discovery Application from downloading the update files inside your network. If auto-update fails or the update action does not complete the upgrade, apply the update manually using one of these following methods:

Manual application update: Download the provided appUpdates-4027.zip and replace only the specified binaries on the existing machine while preserving configuration, keystore files, and credentials. This is the recommended and most efficient method.

Reinstallation: Use this method only when your Discovery Application version is not compatible with the recommended update version, or when the update is too large for file-by-file replacement. In these cases, back up the configuration files, uninstall the application, install the new version, and then restore the configuration.
Note: Contents of Update package and file paths may vary from product release to release.
